This 2004 Toyota Platz is powered by a 1.5 L DOHC engine producing 109 BHP (Brake Horse Power) which is strapped to a 5 Speed manual gearbox giving a massive 20km per 1 liter of fuel used! (Crikey, this thing could probably drive back to Japan on one tank of gas!!!!!) All joking aside this economical gem receives its juice from the 45 liter fuel tank and has a respectable turning circle of 4.9 Meters.
When this vehicle first showed its face on the NZ market, it was regarded as rather ugly and in the 1000cc range was considered underpowered, but it's comfortable ride, large boot space and economical ride spoke to the masses and finally, after a few refinements in the later models like this one, are now accepted in the NZ culture as a hard to beat, get around town shopping basket as well an out of town vehicle.
